Socket less masks all around;
Not one to lend a helping hand.
Voyeuristic and curious – they leer
But none to staunch the blood or wipe a tear.

Death issues forth through callous strings;
A soundless wail rents the air.
A life un-lived mocks at you,
Piercing the balance on which you stand.

This painting was the focus piece in my exhibition held in Cochin a month back. I felt most strongly connected to this one and while I inherently feel that a painting needs to speak for itself, after listening to a lot of viewers wanting to hear my thoughts on it, I penned down some lines which could point the viewer in the right direction.

“Broken and barren,my remains strewn
A fury burns deep within,
Alive yet I am lifeless,
I am the witness, I am the Violated.”
